In order to enhance the services provided to the individuals we support, Lifes WORC implements a comprehensive fundraising program to facilitate private support. As Medicaid dollars are being reduced, efforts to secure private funding have never been more important to help maintain the quality of support Lifes WORC offers to the people in our homes and programs.
The comprehensive fundraising program includes special events, direct mail requests, corporate / foundation solicitation and major gift appeals. Annual special events include the Lifes WORC Holiday Gala in December, the Geraldo Rivera Golf Classic held in May and the Chefs of Long fundraiser held in the spring.
Lifes WORC also offers sponsorships of its 30,000 square foot building at 1501 Franklin Avenue in Garden City. Sponsorships can be purchased through the Brick-by-Brick program for as little as $250. The sponsors name will then be placed on a brick that is placed on the Brick-by-Brick wall on the first floor. Sponsorships of training and program rooms in the building are also offered at different price ranges.
Given that Lifes WORC has an economically diverse support base, the agency offers opportunities for every person to make a donation and to Make A Difference. Through the Make A Difference campaign, a donor can target his/her gift for a specific person or persons for a specific need or activity. All of the money is spent as directed by the donor. The donor will also receive a photograph of the item or activity made possible by his/her gift.
To help parents and siblings safeguard the future for their loved one, Lifes WORC maintains two trusts. The value of these trusts is explained in the following pages. The Third Party Trust will be of particular interest to you.
