The Life’s WORC mission to provide comprehensive care and services to the individuals we support includes ensuring that all available benefits and entitlements are secured and maintained. These benefits include Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability (SSD), Medicaid, Medicare and Food Stamps. The Life’s WORC Entitlement Department possesses the knowledge and expertise needed to successfully navigate the challenging process of qualifying for these government benefits.

The Entitlement Department collaborates with families to ensure a seamless transition of financial responsibility to the agency. Our department provides written notifications along with the necessary documentation to all government agencies advising of such changes which ensure that the appropriate benefits are received.  An important step in the transfer of financial responsibility is for Life’s WORC to become the Representative Payee for these individuals, which allows us to advocate on their behalf. The Entitlement Department works in conjunction with the Finance Department, managing the individuals’ accounts to maintain appropriate resource levels for benefit eligibility. Annual clothing allowance requests, medical bills and third party insurance issues are also addressed by this department. Additionally, Entitlements works to retrieve individuals’ retroactive benefits that may have gone unclaimed and secures them in an appropriate Supplemental Needs Trust, including the Life’s WORC Community Trust, a pooled trust established specifically for this purpose. The Entitlement Department functions as a resource for the families of individuals participating in other agency programs including Medicaid Service Coordination, At Home Residential Habilitation and our Day Habilitation programs, providing assistance with the resolution of Medicaid eligibility issues which impact an individual’s ability to participate in these and other waiver programs without interruption.

With consistent and comprehensive oversight, the Entitlement department is able to secure and maintain benefits and entitlements in a manner that affords each individual, the continuity of services and opportunities for new and exciting experiences. Overall, in keeping with our values the Life’s WORC Entitlement Department is committed to ensuring that each person supported by our agency is able to enjoy “an enviable life”.
