The Quality Assurance (QA) Department at Life’s WORC provides a broad system of operational oversight through both internal and external reviews of all programs, services, supports directly provided, as well as, the expected standards of conduct.  These systemic reviews are designed to promote honest and ethical behavior, a structure to ensure program implementation is consistent with regulatory compliance standards and protocols for communicating and educating all staff, volunteers or others who are responsible for the delivery of services.

The agency QA is responsible for the internal review of agency program operations through record reviews, on-site observations and the validation of billing documentation.  Department staff also evaluate all external audit outcomes completed by NYS-OPWDD (Office of Persons With Developmental Disabilities), NYS-OMIG (Office of Inspector General) or other regulatory offices who regularly review operational procedures of the agency and ensure any recommendations which may be offered are addressed. These audit activities seek to maintain the quality standards of the agency and provide for the ongoing health and safety of every individual supported by Life's WORC.

QA is also responsible for the management of the agency Incident Reporting Systems for the programs, homes or services operated by Life's WORC.  In accordance with regulatory standards, the reporting and documentation of incidents is processed through this department.  Regularly scheduled meetings are held to review incidents, possible trends and tracking of recommended follow-up to safeguard the individuals we support.  The Director of Quality Assurance is also the chairperson for the OMIG Committee which meets monthly to review all internal and external incidents, audit outcomes or billing issues.  This committee works closely with the agency Board of Directors in the governance of agency operations.

As a part of Life's WORC ongoing self-evaluation process, our QA staff manages the distribution of the yearly Satisfaction Surveys to families, the individuals we support and our staff. More than 1,000 surveys are distributed which assists in monitoring the level at which we live our agency Core Values and the quality of all services or supports offered through the continuum of options available at Life’s WORC.
