Janet Koch was selected as CEO of Life’s WORC in October, 2014. Prior to her selection as CEO of Life’s WORC, she served for six years as the agency’s Chief Financial Officer. In her tenure as CFO, she displayed an ability to identify new funding opportunities, as well as an ability to maintain an exemplary quality of service to individuals with special needs despite a reduced revenue stream from funding sources. Janet also displayed a keen understanding of the need to position Life’s WORC for the impending transition to a managed care model of government partnership. It is as a result of this foresight and a track record of positive outcomes in agency financial matters that resulted in her being selected as CEO of Life’s WORC.
Since being selected as CEO, Janet has spearheaded an organization restructuring, overseen the acquisition of four more homes, opened the new Life’s WORC Family Center for Autism (FCA), launched a new three year strategic plan, and introduced a comprehensive marketing initiative. The agency has also earned the Society for Human Resource Management 2016 Best Companies to Work for in New York State Award, 2015 HIA-LI Business Achievement Award in the Not-for-Profit category, LEAD2016 for Leadership Excellence Award and the American Heart Association’s Fit Friendly Worksite Gold Status Award.
Janet’s career began nearly twenty years ago in the not-for-profit industry in the field of developmental disabilities. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Dowling College and a Master of Science in Accounting from Long Island University, CW Post.
In addition to serving as CEO of Life’s WORC, Janet serves on the Board of Directors of the InterAgency Council (IAC), is a member of NYSACRA, is a NYSRA NYSACRA Managed Care Council member, a member of the LIA, and serves on the Audit Committee for the Commack Union Free School District. Janet is also a recipient of the 2015 LI Power Women in Business Award.
